Canada 2000 Picture Postage Stamps
Issue Date 28 April 2000
Personalized postage stamps were introduced to Canadian consumers on April 28th, 2000. The new product, called Picture Postage, was made available through Canada Post retail outlets.
The stamp design was a two-part product consisting of an outer stamp frame and a personalized sticker. What made the product unique was that consumers could design the picture that appeared on the sticker that was to be placed inside the frame. This way they could create their own stamp using pictures of loved ones, pets, wedding photographs or even corporate logos. Canada Post was the first postal administration to offer this type of product.
In order to obtain a sheet of stamps, the customer had to supply a photograph or artwork, pay a premium above face value, and mail the order with the printer, Ashton Potter (Canada) Inc.
