Spain 2024 Discoverers of Oceania - Toribio Asensio de Salazar Wood Paper Stamps

Correos Spain to commemorate the life of Spanish navigator born in Las Encartaciones, Burgos, in the 15th century,  Toribio Asensio de Salazar , has issued a special wood paper stamp.

Toribio Salazar has been accredited to the discovery of Marshall Islands on 21 August 1526 under his command on the Ship San Lesmes , a 96-ton ship, on the expedition of  García Jofre de Loaísa and Juan Sebastián Elcano (after they both died during the long voyage).

Morocco 2024 25th Anniversary King Mohamed VI Wooden stamp

Morocco Post to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI has issued a special issue of a postage stamp and souvenir sheet illustrating some of the major achievements (the Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline, the Mohammed VI Tower, the Grand Theater of Rabat, the Mohammed VI Football Academy, and an aerial view of the Agadir desalination plant), Morocco has witnessed over the past 25 years under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.




The stamp is made of oak veneer wood printed with gold foil and cut using lasers.

Hungary 2016 – Holy Crown of Hungary with Glass Crystals MS (Over Print)

Magyar Posta to celebrate Hungary’s Fundamental Law (5years) has reissued the commemorative stamp block on 25 April 2011 featuring the Holy Crown of Hungary affixed with glass crystals with an Over Print. The mini sheet was placed in a special folder. The stamps are embossed with gold leaf foil printing and glow in the dark under UV printing with the Hungarian inscription "May there be Peace, Freedom and Concord". The stamp block will be overprinted with Hungarian inscriptions meaning “Hungary’s Fundamental Law is 5 years old” and “25 April 2016”.


On Magyar Posta’s numbered philatelic specialty the Holy Crown of Hungary printed in 23 carat gold leaf rising from the plane of the paper is featured. The border is adorned with a work by Miklós Köllő, the statue of King Saint Stephen from the dome hall of the House of Parliament, as well as its vaults. When placed under UV light, the inscription in Hungarian “May there be peace, freedom and concord” is visible. On the special stamp block with red numbering, cut glass crystals sparkle in the place of the precious stones decorating the Holy Crown. The stamp block overprint and the related items were produced by ANY Security Printing Company based on the design of the graphic artist who made the 2011 issue, Imre Benedek. (4000 pieces were reissued with the OVP)

Sri Lanka 2024 Kandy Esala Perahera (Cultural Heritage) Extra Wide Stamp

Sri Lanka Post to commemorate the famous Sri Dalada Perahera festival in Kandy, has launched a special postage stamp to highlight the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Sri Lanka which measures 205mm x 30mm (205 mm or 8.07 inch in length)

The sheetlet strip of four stamps measures 205 mm x 30 mm, setting the world record for being the World's Longest Postage Stamp. It beats the previous widest stamp by Philippine Postal Corp stamp 200mm x 35mm (Second) issued in June 2024. The previous holders of this record were by Kyrgyzstan Post in 2023 (Third) featuring Kyrgyzstan’s Chaar-Tash mountain range commemorating the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development. The stamp is 184 millimeters (7.2 inches) long and the fourth longest stamp 170mm-long (6.7 inches) issued by Thailand Post in 2017 commemorating the 70th anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne.
