Austria 2019 Crypto Stamp

Austria Post has issued a special stamp reflecting the use of modern day technology for Crypto-Stamp based on the open source programmable block chain Ethereum with its own cryptocurrency called Ether (ETH).

The stamp has been issued on a Plastic Card with a QR code and a tearaway part with scratch off printing. 

The stamp set comes in two parts. As pictured below, the left part, with a 3D Hologram unicorn logo associated with Ethereum, functions as a standard stamp that can be used to send mail. The right section, on the other hand, contains the credentials used to authenticate the crypto collectible via blockchain ( a special kind of decentralized data storage). This defines a digital Wallet/purse in which this stamp is stored as  “a virtual collector’s item”   which is exclusively owned by the wallet owner.

The brand block is in the form of a bank card. The right side of the block contains all credentials hidden under scratch layers. The holder of the Wallet-related access code as well as another attached code, the "Secret Word List", thus has the digital Crypto stamp. If the digital version of the stamp is sold or transferred from one wallet to another, the transaction is fully documented in the blockchain.

A limited 150,000 unit run of five different virtual/crypto stamps colors– black, red, blue, yellow, black – allows the owner to use a physical stamp, but then save its image in their wallet. The distribution is as follows: 1,500 red stamps; yellow, 10,000; blue, 20,000; green, 40,000; black, 78,500. The stamps retail for 6.90 Euro, meaning the entire project will bring in just over $1 million. The color represents the "Virtual image of the stamps" and not the physical image of the stamp

Russia 2010 Polar Year Plastic Stamp sheet

On the occasion of the International Polar Year 2007-2008, Russian Post had issued a special souvenir sheet on 21 March 2007 depicting the floating polar stations "The North Pole", the researches of the ice surfaces, the cultural and the natural heritage of the Arctic are depicted on the stamps.

A special commemorative plastic stamp sheet was issued in 2017.

Belgium 2014 International Year of Crystallography - Souvenir Sheet with Transparent Stamp (Slovenia Joint Issue)

Crystallography is the study of the various structures of crystals. The year 2014  is being celebrated by UN as the International Year of Crystallography. 

The Belgian post BPost, on the occasion of the International Year of Crystallography, issued on 9 June 2014,  two postage stamps and a leaflet entitled 'Les cristaux mis en lumière' (crystals in the limelight). 

These stamps have been printed on a semi-transparent adhesive base, to remind us of the clarity of many crystals. 

The Souvenir Sheet illustrates the principle of diffraction. The two stamps show in detail the arrangement of water molecules in two variants of an ice crystal.

A similar souvenir sheet has been issued by Slovenia though without the transparent element.

Maldives 2013 - 85th Memorial Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Maldive Post issued 2 miniature sheet on Mahatma Gandhi to commemorate the 85th Memorial Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The first Miniature sheet features one stamp while the second miniature sheet features 4 stamps and both the miniature sheets are made of plastic.

Bhutan 1972 Embossed Plastic Famous Men Miniature sheet
