China 2026-5 Children's Games Stamps with interactive folds

China Post to commemorate traditional children’s games has issued a set of 4 stamps titled - Bamboo Dragonfly, Rubber Band Skipping, Hide-and-Seek and Eagle Chasing Chicks. 

Bamboo Dragon fly stamp is set in spring and features a child spinning the bamboo dragonfly, a classic Chinese toy.

 Rubber Band Skipping stamp takes summer as its backdrop with children skipping on bouncy elastic bands. 

Hide-and-Seek stamp, features an autumnal setting with kids laughing and darting among golden foliage in the classic escape of childhood games of hiding and seeking hidden friends.

Eagle Chasing Chicks stamp is set against a wintry scene, a lively group game, with children running in formation highlighting innocent friendship and teamwork amid cheerful laughter.

Under ultraviolet light, select elements of the stamps glow with fluorescent ink: bamboo dragonflies, rubber bands and dragonflies on the first two stamps, fallen leaves and blindfolds on the third, plus snowflakes and a snowman on the fourth. 

The above sheetlet is printed on self-adhesive paper with an exclusive hidden surprise: once the entire self-adhesive stamp sheet is peeled off its backing liner, complete folding creases for a paper airplane are revealed on the liner. Users can fold along the marked lines to make a playable paper plane.

Hungary 2024 150th birth anniversary of Harry Houdini Souvenir sheet with Glow in the Dark Printing under UV

Magyar Posta (Hungary Postal Service) to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Harry Houdini (Hungarian Born Erik Weisz in Budapest on March 24, 1874) has issued a special self adhesive souvenir sheet with  Glow in the Dark Printing under UV. 

The stamp features a padlock, while the selvage of the sheet shows a scene from one of Houdini’s film performances. The portrait of Houdini appears in the padlock on the stamp when viewed under ultraviolet light.

The miniature sheet gives another hidden secret as described “ The same portrait can be seen under normal light in the space behind the self-adhesive stamp once it is removed from the sheet.“ 

The portrait as seen under UV light is literally seen behind the lock when the stamp is removed from the sheet.. Lo Behold the magic of Houdini on the stamp.. Spoiler Alert ( Thanks to John A Sipos for this revelation and Gratitude to the Hungarian Post for bringing out the essence of Houdini’s Escape routine .. He does comes out in the end.)

Spain 2020 Spanish air mail centenary

Issue date 30 June 2020

Good Friday 1920, 1 April. Four post office planes departed from and arrived at an aerodrome in Alicante simultaneously. They were part of the opening ceremony for the first air mail route in Spain. It was a route that covered Barcelona - Alicante - Málaga, although its departure point was Toulouse, which was where the airline Latécoère, which operated the flight, was based.

The commemorative issue for this centenary has been done in the form of a die cut, simulating a biplane dropping the correspondence while it flies.

Taiwan 2013 Qing Dynasty Embroidery Stamps

To commemorate the Qing Dynasty-era embroidery, Chungwa Post (Taiwan Post) has issued a special sheet 70 cm (over 2 feet) in length that shows the entire Qing Dynasty embroidery.

The original embroidery, a 5m wide curtain used for ceremonial purposes, includes rich colors. Highlighted by a plush red, it depicts birds, flowers, and trees celebrating a spring-like flowering and abundance. It was in fact in connection with these special stamp sets that the National Museum put the original embroidery on display.

Brazil 2018 Antique Radio Souvenir Sheet

Brazil Post to commemorate the Old Valve Radios, has issued a special souvenir sheet designed for paper folding into a Valve Radio consisting of 4 stamps. Each stamp represents different aspects of the motif – the technology, the electronic notation, the aesthetics of the equipment and its operation. The radio miniset can be mounted using scissors, glue (or even the gum of the stamp) and the perforation, constituting a metaphor for the practice of radio amateurism, and its tradition of assembling electronic equipment. The color palette refers to the old radio devices, using tones that refer to wood and metal.

Spain 2017 Exfilna 2017 - Portugalete - Metal Bridge 

Issue date 16 October 2017

The 55th Philatelic Exhibition, EXFILNA, organized since 1963 by the Spanish Federation of Philatelic Societies (FESOFI) will be hosted by Portugalete. 

 The stamp is presented in a folding block sheet with a punch that reproduces the Metallic Bridge of the city, the Vizcaya Bridge. For the first time it is innovated with a stamp that carries a pop up, with augmented reality. The bridge of Vizcaya, Bizkaiko Zubia in Euskera, unites the two banks of the estuary of Bilbao, and was inaugurated on July 28, 1893. This bridge is a symbol of the Industrial Revolution of the late nineteenth century.

UAE 2017 Year of Giving MS with interactive folds

Emirates Post has issued a set of stamps to mark the Year of Giving. The stamps come in two different designs - the first carrying the logo for the Year of Giving 2017, while the second comes in the form of a donation box to encourage people to contribute.

2017 was announced as the Year of Giving by the President, Sheikh Khalifa, last December. It aims to build a spirit of volunteering, strengthen social responsibility in the private sector and boost the ideals of serving the nation among Emiratis and expatriates.

The sheet also contains a pop out cutting of a box which forms a donation box when folded into one.

Spain 2017 Origami Stamp

Origami is defined as the art of creating paper figures without cutting or using glue, only folding a square of paper.

The paper figures can take many forms, including flowers, animals, objects, faces or architectural elements.

Paper folding originated in China in the 1st or 2nd century CE, arriving in Japan in the 6th century, where it became part of Japanese culture, and has continued to grow in popularity and complexity since then. At first, only Japan’s upper classes could enjoy it, due to the high price of paper.

It was introduced to the West via the caravans of the Silk Road and spread rapidly as a cheap and easy pastime.


Eventually, the two main centres of paper folding were Spain in the west, where it is called papiroflexia, and Japan in the east, with the name origami. Both countries developed a classic bird figure, which became a long-standing tradition: the crane in Japan and the pajarita in Spain.

Correos Spain has issued a special stamp which can be folded into a Bow Tie following the instructions on the Souvenir sheet. The stamp also incorporates Augmented Reality where one can download a tutorial on how to mount the bow tie.

Spain 2017 World Heritage - Monuments of Oviedo and kingdom of Asturias

Correos Spain has issued World Heritage series block featuring Monuments of Oviedo and the Kingdom of Asturias.

The foldable block sheet has, among its die-cut arches, an image of the green Asturian landscape, with a lake surrounded by mountains and vegetation, crowned with an intense blue sky adorned with white clouds.  The round stamp represents the front of the two-euro coin that is put into circulation this year.

Tonga 2016 Chinese New Year - Lunar Year of the Monkey

Tonga Postal Authorities has issued a special Stamp Miniature sheet  which can folded into the shape of a Chinese wedding sedan chair. The sedan chair was used in ancient China to bring the bride to the groom’s home on the wedding day.

The special pane of stamps from Tonga was one of the 6 special stamps issued by the 6 South Pacific Islands  of Aitutaki, Cook islands, Niuafo’ou, Penrhyn and Samoa including Tonga. Aitutaki and Penrhyn are part of the Cook Islands, and Niuafo’ou is part of Tonga. The Year of the Monkey will begin on Feb. 8, 2016.

Tonga’s Year of the Monkey pane contains two $11.30 and $16.90 diamond-shaped stamps. The $11.30 stamp, designed by Sophia Zhang, shows a symbolic monkey in shades of green and decorated with a floral motif. The $16.90 stamp features a Chinese calligraphy painting by Zeng Fan. Instructions on how to fold is printed on the reverse of the pane.

Chinese calligraphy that translates to “Monkey’s congratulations” are shown on the four corners of these two stamps.

The Tonga Year of the Monkey pane also can be personalized by inserting a photograph or other label next to the printed postage stamp in the pane (as shown below),making it a good commemorative gift for a wedding couple or couples celebrating anniversaries.

The other participating postal authorities each issued a souvenir sheet with two diamond-shaped stamps. One stamp shows a symbolic monkey designed by Sophia Zhang.

The other features a calligraphy painting by one of the following famous Chinese artists: Huili Yin, Zhenshan Guo, Bingwu Yan, Xianlu Guo or Ermiao Zhang. Shiqi Zhang provided the calligraphy work.

While each souvenir sheet is shaped like a monkey, they all have different shapes.

For example, the souvenir sheet from Cook Islands is in the shape of mother and child monkeys. The $3.80 stamp in the sheet depicts a calligraphy painting of a baby monkey nestled in her mother's arms. The symbolic image on the $4.10 stamp shows a mother monkey looking at the infant on her back. The infant is holding a peach.

All of the sheets in this multinational issue also are designed so that they can stand up and be lined up to create a procession of monkeys working together to move the sedan chair with their arms and tails.
