The IOM Post office has issued a set of 6 stamps highlighting the works of world-renowned Isle of Man author Nigel Kneale (1922-2006).

The stamps feature scenes from 

- The Taming of the Shrew

- Tomato Cain

- The Quatermass Productions

- The Year of the Sex Olympics

- The Stone Tape

- Beasts

The Stamps were printed with hidden messages which appear to Glow in the Dark Under UV Light

Isle of Man 2018 50th Year of 2001 A Space Odyssey Stamp Set

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Stanley Kubrick's film '2001 : A Space Odyssey ' (1968) , Isle of Man Post Office has issued a special set of 8 stamps with hidden secrets printed on the stamps.

The film was released in 1968 one year before the moon landing and was a fore front in depicting space frontiers even before space travel began by Man. The film was inspired by the Arthur C. Clarke book 'The Sentinel'.

25p Stamp - depicts Stanley Kubrick in the midst of creating movie magic

30p Stamp - features Arthur C Clarke whose short story ' The Sentinel' from which '2001' was adapted. Arthur C. Clarke is pictured on the set standing in front of the pod.

52p Stamp - features the docking scene at Space Station V decades before today's ISS (International Space Station) was a reality.

75p Stamp - shows the Monolith - a featureless black structure in the film which provides the time link between past, present and future.

83p Stamp - features one of the space stewardess on the stamp.

GBP 1.40 stamp - features the defining image of the Star Child.

GBP 1.93 stamp - features the film astronaut Dr.Dave Bowman played by actor Kier Dullea.

GBP 2.01 stamp - features HAL all seeing all hearing

 25p Stamp - Under UV Light the stamp shows Arthur C. Clarke's quote 'The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.' It also shows some music score on the bottom half of the stamp

30p Stamp - Under UV light the stamp features Stephen Kubrick quote 'The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent'.  It also shows some music score on the bottom half of the stamp.

52p Stamp - Under UV light the stamp features the words from the movie 2001 - A Space Odyssey - Open the pod bay doors please, HAL. In the classic 1968 movie, astronaut Dave Bowman asked eerie supercomputer HAL to open the ship's pod bay doors and let him back inside.

75p Stamp - features the words 'Eighteen months ago, the first evidence of intelligent life off the Earth was discovered. ' under UV light.

83p Stamp - features the words 'You are cleared through Voiceprint Identification' under UV light.

GBP 1.40 stamp - features the words 'My God, it's full of stars' under UV Light which was Dave Bowman's final words as he entered the monolith in the movie 2001 - A Space Odyssey

GBP 1.93 stamp - features the words ' I've just picked up a fault in the AE-35 unit' seen under UV Light spoken by HAL in the movie.

GBP 2.01 stamp - features the words spoken by HAL 'I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.' (seen under UV Light) in response to Dave Bowman's plea to HAL to open the pod doors.

Isle of Man 2018 100 Years of the Royal Air Force

Isle of Man Post Office has commissioned a set of eight stamps to commemorate 100 Years of the Royal Air Force. 

The RAF was formed towards the end of World War 1, on the 1st of April 1918. Twenty-one years later RAF bases started to open on the Isle of Man, beginning with RAF Jurby in September 1939. RAF Andreas was opened two years later as a fighter airfield, while the civilian aerodrome at Ronaldsway was taken over by the RAF in 1940 and became RAF Ronaldsway. RAF Air-Sea Rescue marine craft were based at Ramsey, Peel, Douglas and Castletown during the war years

The stamps not only include images of iconic RAF aircraft – from the earlier fighter aircraft such as the Sopwith Camel, to the more recent Typhoon and Lighting II – they also contain other details such as key airfields, personnel, medal ribbons, flags and the RAF Ensign. 

As an added bonus, each stamp also includes a secret message in morse code, which is only visible under UV light. Once deciphered, the message reveals the well-known poem ‘High Flight’, by John Gillespie Magee, a Canadian Air Force pilot who trained at the RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire. The poem was penned shortly before he died, at the age of 19, in a Spitfire training accident at RAF Cranwell.

Isle of Man 2015 The 50th Anniversary Commonwealth Secretariat Multi - country Stamp issue

Issue date 27 November 2015 

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Commonwealth Secretariat with the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth, Isle of Man Post has issued a special sheet with stamps from 27 commonwealth nations. This is the first time 27 countries stamps are featured on a single sheet.

This issue is unusual due to large number of stamps of different countries issued by one country.

Isle of Man 2017 Bloodhound Car 

Issue date 22 September 2017 

To commemorate the BLOODHOUND project set to make a new land speed world record of 1000mph, IOM Post has issued a special miniature sheet. 

The sheet includes two stamps and two labels, with one featuring the legendary Richard Noble and current world record holder Andy Green, BLOODHOUND’s driver. Behind the images lie technical line drawings underlining that this miniature sheet is a showcase of engineering prowess as well as the ambition of setting new records.

To ensure the miniature sheet reflects technical innovation it includes three special print finishes; metallic ink, varnish and thermochromic ink, which disappears when heated to reveal the inside of the BLOODHOUND car.

Gibraltar / Isle of Man 2005 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar Siamese Issue

200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar.  

Two different stamps, one from each country, part of one single souvenir sheet. Each country issued its own mixed souvenir sheet in which the stamps are the same but there is a slight difference in the text. Stamps, paintings: A, the death of Horatio Nelson (1758-1805); B, the funeral of Nelson. Gibraltar issued also a souvenir sheet containing only stamp A. On January 9, 2005, Isle of Man issued already stamp B, as part of a series of 2x4 different se-tenant stamps, in the frame of the first series related to the Trafalgar battle anniversary. Multicolored.

The two mixed souvenir sheets can be identified by the name of the issuing country and the logo of the respective post offices printed on it. Jersey issued on the same day five stamps and one miniature sheet with a different design.

Each of the souvenir sheet can also be classified as an Omnibus Joint Stamp Issue.
