3D - Holographic Stamps - Update

Category - Sight
Subcategory - 3D - Holographic Stamps / Odd Shaped Stamps / Glow in the Dark under UV Stamps / Thermochromic Stamps

One of the most beautiful Stamp Set and Souvenir sheet from China Post incorporating 4 different printing technology. A big shout out and thanks to Rohit Jain (Toronto Canada) for these stamp set. This set was sitting in my unpublished Blog holographic material box for quite some time as the holographic effect was difficult to detect initially when I first got it (thought only one stamp and the souvenir sheet had cold foil printing) but once tilted properly the effect could be seen in all the stamps. Discovered other features on the stamp and souvenir sheet while researching the stamps for 3D holographic foil printing.

China 2024-20 Daocheng Yaling Stamps Set - Multi printing techniques.

Issue date 28 September 2014

China Post has issued a special set of 4 Stamps and 1 Special Souvenir sheet themed "Daocheng Yaling". The four stamps and the Souvenir sheet is also printed with Cold Foil Stamping which gives a holographic imprint to the Mountains (in the first stamp) and the lakes in the remaining three  stamps.

The 4 stamps titled

Xianuoduoji (120 Fen) The eastern peak of the "Three Holy Mountains" (Sanhu Zhu), with an altitude of 5,951.3 meters. (Picture Top Left)

Luorong Pasture(120 Fen) An alpine pasture at an altitude of approximately 4,150 meters, used for grazing by nearby villagers. (Picture Top Right)

Five-color Sea (120 Fen) The highest lake in Daocheng Yading, with an altitude of approximately 4,600 meters, a circular shape, and an area of 0.7 hectares. (Picture Bottom Right)

Xianainri (120 Fen) The northern peak of the "Three Holy Mountains", with an altitude of 5,998.5 meters. (Picture Bottom Left)

The souvenir sheet Yangmaiyong depicts the southern peak of the "Three Holy Mountains", standing at an altitude of 6,033.0 meters. The souvenir sheet is designed in the shape of an eye with a round pupil (so stamp can be eye shaped or round shaped as per the perforations), with the beautiful scenery of Daocheng Yading's snow-capped mountains and lakes reflected in the pupil.  The border features rare flora and fauna of Daocheng Yading Area.

The Fourth Stamp (Bottom Left Stamp) and the Stamp on the Souvenir Sheet is printed with thermochromic ink, which when heated to temperature above 45℃ the white mountains on the fourth stamps turn grey from white while the mountain on the Souvenir Sheet turn from white to blue. This technological design aims to advocate environmental awareness, alert people to the hazards of global warming and effects of the Greenhouse warming.
