South Korea 2025 Chinese Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026

South Korea Post as part of the Annual Series of New Year's Greetings, has issued a special odd shaped souvenir sheet with 16 stamps of 2 different stamps with horse image - 2026 being Year of the Horse in the Chinese Zodiac signs. One of the stamp has embossing with silver foil printing while the other stamp is printed with Red holographic foil.

South Korea 2025 Dancheong (Korean Traditonal Multicolored Paintwork stamp) Wooden Minisheet Koreapex 2025 Limited Edition

At the PHILA KOREA 2025 international stamp exhibition held in Seoul (September 17 to 21, 2025) South Korea Post has issued a limited edition of special wooden mini-sheet with 4 Wooden Stamps with the logo printed in gold like color. The stamps feature dancheong, a traditional Korean decorative paintwork consisting of colorful patterns on wooden buildings. The difference between the regular wood minisheet issue and the Koreapex issue is with the logo printed in gold like color. The issue was limited to 3000 pieces at the exhibition.

A regular edition on the minisheet was also released for sale from Korea Post with a black logo at the bottom left of the minisheet.

South Korea 2020 Lunar Chinese New Year of the OX 2021

South Korea Post had issued a special sheet to commemorate the Chinese Lunar Year of the OX in 2021. The Stamp features holographic printing.

This commemorative stamp for the New Year is issued in two versions: one depicts a winking calf bearing good fortune with a lucky bag on its back and showing a gentle smile; and the other holographic version portrays a mother cow and calf facing each other and smiling together, expressing heartwarming maternal love and abundance.

To commemorate the 19th World Amateur Radio Direction Finding Championship,scheduled to take place from September 2 – 8, 2018, in Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea Post has issued a special stamp with thermochromic ink printing.

The sport is also called fox hunting as it originated in the West as a game in which people attach a bell to a fox s neck and search for it and the hidden transmitter is often referred to as a fox.

South Korea Post has issued the 4th Series (of four Stamps) featuring Must-visit tourist destinations for Koreans. The four special stamps highlights the breathtaking views of 4  mountainous national parks -  The Juwangsan National Park, The Taebaeksan National Park, The Mudeungsan National Park and The Bukhansan National Park.

The four stamps on the sheet of 16 stamps has a special printing process which includes rock dust being printed on the stamp.

South Korea 2017 Nature in DMZ Stamps with Rock dust

A Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) divides the Korean Peninsula in two since 1953 with a buffer zone that maintains a distance between the troops of the two countries - Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the North and the Republic of Korea in the South.

South Korean Post has issued 2 stamps featuring the fauna in the demilitarized zone - one stamp with a squirrel next to a soldier's helmet with a bullet hole and and the second stamp with a kingfisher sitting on a barbed wire.

Both stamps feature UV lacquer printing with the stamp featuring the helmet having an iron powder printing effect.

South Korea 2016 Year of the Rooster 2017 Embossed 3D Holographic foil Stamp Odd Shaped Miniature Sheet

The Chinese year 2017 lasts from 28 January 2017 to 15 February 2018 and stands under the rule of the rooster.

In Korea, the rooster appeared as an animal announcing the birth of the ruler of a new country in the myth of Kim Alji, the progenitor of the Gyeongju Kim clan and the Kim dynasty of Silla.

To predict a good harvest, farmers used to count the crows of the first rooster at dawn on New Year’s Day or January 15th by the lunar calendar.


It was believed that a good harvest was on the way if the rooster crowed more than ten times.

On the occasion of 2012 Korea Philatelic Week Exhibition held from August 9 to 13, 2012, South Korea Post has issued 4 fan shaped stamps.
The Special Stamps feature 3 Western korean paintings and 1 Korean painting featuring

- “The Back Alley”, work by Seo Dong Jin, regarded as having played a crucial role in the establishment of the modern watercolor, shows the city as a clean water painting; 

  - “Namhyangjip” (a house facing south), the work by Oh Ji Ho who launched impressionism in a uniquely Korean manner, where the warm spring light fills the canvas; 

- “Tugye” (cockfighting), the work by Lee Joong Seop shows strongly and with an expressionic fight between two cocks; and 

- “Chodong” (early winter), the work by Lee Sang Beom, that shows both the departure from conceptual landscape painting to a more realistic landscape style, as well as the strong lyricism about the country landscape.

South Korea 2014 Gold Earings and Painting Stamp   

Issue date 7 August 2014

Korea Post issued 2 definitive stamps featuring 

- "Gold Earings" from Hwango-dong, Gyeongju, excavated from the Hwango-dong tomb no.52 of the Silla Dynasty. The 9 cm long earring is a large thick plain ring with numerous leaf shaped ornaments hanging from it. It is housed in the National Museum of Korea.

- "Gosa Gwansudo Painting of a Lofty Scholar Contemplating Over Water" is a painting from the 15th century and housed in the National Museum of Korea. The painting was drawn on paper in black and white by Kang Hui-an, a painter from the Joseon Dynasty. The viewer can see the scholar calmly contemplating over running water while leaning forward onto a rock.

For prevention of counterfeiting of these high value stamps (KRW 1930 and KRW 3000), the stamps were printed with (1) Optically Variable Ink where character become more prominent when viewing the stamp at different angles, (2) Microtext letters and (3) the Korean Peninsula Map perforation.
