Hong Kong 2019 Chinese Lunar Year of the Pig Silk Stamp

As part of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations 2019 Year of the Pig in the Chinese Zodiac Calender, Hong Kong Post has issued a Silk stamp sheetlet featuring a gold mother pig and piglets pendant, a traditional wedding gift as a token of blessing from seniors to wish the newlyweds a happy family with more offspring. The background is decorated with graceful and enchanting peonies, which are reputed to be the “King of Flowers” and signify good fortune and success.

Australia Christmas Island 2019 Chinese Lunar New Year of the Pig 2019 Silk Stamp Miniature Sheet

To commemorate the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Dog, as in the previous year,s the Christmas Island Year of the Pig 2019 silk mini sheet folder pack contains three different version of the mini sheet from the stamp issue.

1) Traditional offset-printed mini sheet, gummed and perforated

2) Digital printed on real silk, gummed and perforated mini sheet

3) Digital printed on silk-like paper self adhesive mini sheet.

The Pig is the 12th sign in the 12-sign Chinese zodiac cycle. Those born under the Pig sign are known to be restful, kind, and empathetic. The Pig symbolizes abundance and success.

France 2018 Sonia Rykiel Valentine Day Heart Shaped Stamp

As per the Annual tradition of La Poste France collaborating with the Design Fashion Houses of France for the Valentine Day stamps, for 2018 the Fashion House of Sonia Rykiel has designed the motifs of the heart shaped stamps. On the 80¢ stamp, red silhouettes of a couple kissing are shown on a white background. The word “baiser” translates to kiss.

Liechtenstein 2019 300 Years of Liechtenstein Embroidered Stamp with Crystals

The Principality of Liechtenstein marks its 300th anniversary on 23 January 2019. Through the special stamp “300 Years of Liechtenstein” (face value: CHF 6.30), Philately Liechtenstein will be issuing an embroidered stamp. The anniversary stamp is self-adhesive and is presented in the shape of a Princely hat. It was made by the embroidery firm Hämmerle & Vogel in Lustenau, Austria. A special stamp with 2019 pieces with 7 Swarovski Crystals was issued through a lottery online and my certificate bears the number 1014/2019.

Brazil 2018 Antique Radio Souvenir Sheet

Brazil Post to commemorate the Old Valve Radios, has issued a special souvenir sheet designed for paper folding into a Valve Radio consisting of 4 stamps. Each stamp represents different aspects of the motif – the technology, the electronic notation, the aesthetics of the equipment and its operation. The radio miniset can be mounted using scissors, glue (or even the gum of the stamp) and the perforation, constituting a metaphor for the practice of radio amateurism, and its tradition of assembling electronic equipment. The color palette refers to the old radio devices, using tones that refer to wood and metal.

Japan 2019 Lunar New Year Lucky Cat Stamp Sheet

The 2019 Nengajyo (New Year Cards) lottery numbers will be announced on Sunday, January 20th via newspaper, tv and on the Japan Post website. Japan post selects random numbers, similar to a New Year Postal Lottery. If you match any of those number you can win a prize (100,000 yen cash, travel, electronics, food or stamps).

According to NHK, the idea of combining nengajo with a lottery started in 1949, when the price of a postcard was 2 yen. In the years right after the war, the exchange of nenga-hagaki took on special meaning, since it was a good way to inform friends and relatives that you were still alive and where you were. The lottery, which is called Otoshidama, the term for New Years gifts of cash given to children, made it even more appealing, because so many people had nothing at the time, so the prizes were for the most part practical: sewing machines, skeins of wool, bolts of fabric. As Japanese society became more affluent, the prizes became more aspirational: TV sets and other high-end home appliances, or coupons for international or domestic travel.” – Yen for Living

Djibouti 2018 Chinese Zodiac Sign Wood Sheet

For the 38th Macau Stamp Exhibition, Republic of Djibouti Postal Authorities had issued a special Wooden Souvenir Sheet featuring the 12 Sign of the Chinese Zodiac. The Souvenir sheet was limited to a print of 500 sheets (My Number is 402/500).
