Canada 2019 Endangered Turtles Odd shaped stamps

Canada Post has issued 2 special odd shaped stamps which showcase two species -  Blanding’s turtles (Emydoidea blandingii)  and Spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata),  that have been assessed as endangered by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC).

Hong Kong 2018 150 yrs HK Fire Department Services

To commemorate  “The 150th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Fire Services Department”, Hong Kong Post has issued a special stamp sheet with Augmented reality (AR) technology.

By scanning the specially designed mint stamps with the “HKPostStamps” mobile app, 3D models of the vehicles on the stamps will be displayed. Tap on the accompanying buttons for more information on each stamp, or to view the 360-degree images that reveal the inside of some vehicles. The app is educational in other ways too, even answering questions about fire safety.

Canada 2019 Vancouver Asahi odd shaped Stamps

Canada Post has issued a special odd shaped stamps in the shape of a baseball commemorating the Vancouver Asahi Baseball team, with the stamp featuring the 1940 team photograph, which includes Kaye Kaminishi (back row, second from left) – the Asahi’s last living team member.

The Vancouver Asahi team was formed in 1914– an amateur Japanese-Canadian baseball team whose name means Morning Sun – which thrilled fans and outwitted competitors with a unique strategy of bunts, base stealing, speed and squeeze plays that the media dubbed “brain ball.”

The Asahi became one of the city’s most dominant amateur teams and between 1919 and 1941, won multiple league titles in Vancouver and along the Pacific northwest. However, the team was forced to disband after Canada declared war on Japan and interned more than 20,000 Japanese living on the west coast, most of them Canadian citizens.

The Asahi ultimately earned their place in the BC Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame

Canada Post has issued a  souvenir sheet featuring five Permanent domestic stamps, a $1.05 domestic-rate stamp, a U.S.-rate stamp, an oversized-rate stamp, and an international-rate stamp.


The scenes depicted on the five Permanent domestic stamps include the ragged mountains of Yukon’s Tombstone Territorial Park, the roaring waters of Alberta’s Athabasca Falls, the isolated Arctic wilderness of Nunavut’s Quttinirpaaq National Park, the picturesque heritage churches of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, and the colour-changing waters of Manitoba’s Little Limestone Lake. The $1.05 domestic-rate stamp shows Saskatchewan’s Castle Butte, the U.S.-rate stamp depicts Smoke Lake in Ontario’s Algonquin Provincial Park and the oversized-rate stamp features the unique limestone islands of Quebec’s Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve. On the international-rate stamp, a massive iceberg drifts past a stretch of coast in Newfoundland and Labrador known as Iceberg Alley.
