Central African Republic 2019 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

Central African Republic Post to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing by Apollo 11 has issued 2 minisheets with stamps depicting the various stages of deployment of the Moon Lander in one sheet and the footprint left on the moon surface in another sheet.

The 2 minisheets have been issued with perforated stamps and with imperforated stamps and have been printed with thermochromic ink which react to warm temperature of the fingers and the parts printed with this ink disappears due heat of the fingers when touched

Spain 2019 Charming Villages Series IV

In the fourth series of "Charming Villages" of Spain, Correos Spain has issued stamps in the form of old-fashioned fold-out postcards with the reverse side of the stamp printed just like the backs of those cards used to be. The booklet has four self-sticking stamps and a vignette.

The towns chosen in this occasion are: Liérganes in Cantabria, Covarrubias in Burgos, Laguardia in Álava and Ujué-Uxue in Navarra.

Spain 2018  Historic Tree "EL ABUELO". LUGO.

Correos Spain has issued a special miniature sheet depicting the Grandfather Eucalyptus Tree of Lugo, found in the Chavín forest, and standing at 60 m tall with a circumference of 7.5 m at the foot of the tree.

This tree is believed to be 130 years old and often visited by people who try to hold hands and see how many people are needed to completely surround the tree trunk. Its branches hold six self-adhesive stamps in the shape of eucalyptus leaves and the mini sheet has the scent of Eucalytpus oil.

The image of O Avó (grandfather in Galician) is accompanied by a text about this centenarian tree on the sheet.

Italy 2007 Basilica of San Vincenzo in Galliano, Cantù  wood stamp

Issued on 02 July 2007

Italian Post has issued a special stamp  as part of Italian Artistic and Cultural Heritage series featuring a sketch of the façade of the Basilica of San Vincenzo in Galliano, Cantù, a church dating from the Early Middle Ages, consecrated in 1007. 

The stamp is self-adhesive and printed on a wooden sheet faced with birch measuring 0.3 mm in thickness.

Poste Italiane (the Italian Postal service) together with Arnaldo Caprai produced a special stamp with lace titled ‘ Art of Lace’  to honour lace. It is a self adhesive fabric stamp worked with machine-embroidery.

USA 2019 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

USPS to commemorate the 50th Anniversary issued 2 Forever Stamps with a shiny effect. USPS technical details described the stamps as offset-printed in cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks. No silver color was listed. It was later revealed by USPS that the colors were printed onto a Shiny Chrome Paper. This was the first time Chrome Paper was used by USPS.

South Georgia 2019 3D Grytviken Anaglyph stamps

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands had a whaling station established at Grytviken. South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands came into existence as a UK overseas territory in 1985 when the Falkland Islands Dependencies ceased to exist.

The stamps featured the different sites located on the whaling Station Grytviken with Anaglyph printing to be viewed using the Red/Blue 3D glasses

70p - Grytviken Church
Built in 1913 and consecrated on Christmas day in the same year, the whaler’s church at Grytviken was a key feature of the whaling station. The church is in the neo-gothic style and has a single nave and a small library to the rear. The church fell into disrepair after the abandonment of the station but was repaired to its former glory in the 1990’s and is now an important site for visitors.

80p - Shackleton’s Grave
Possibly the most famous resident of the Grytviken cemetery, the remains of the explorer Ernest Shackleton were laid to rest on South Georgia in 1922 after he suffered a fatal heart attack. Although initially there were plans to return the body of the veteran of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition to Britain, his wife Emily requested he be buried on South Georgia.

£1.05 - The Petrel Wreck
Built in Oslo in 1928 the 35m former whale catcher is an iconic part of the Grytviken sky line. Powered by triple expansion coal fired steam engines and equipped with a bow mounted harpoon gun connected to the bridge via a cat walk, the Petrel was once cutting edge technology and allowed whalers to capture fast moving blue and fin whales.

£1.85 - Harpoon Gun
Harpoon guns were once a common site on South Georgia. Mounted on the bows of whale catchers, they made it possible to fire explosive harpoon shells deep into the flesh of the whale. Sharp spikes prevented the harpoon from sliding out and later versions of shells injected air to keep the carcass afloat and make it easier to tow the whale back to the ship.  A graphic reminder of the whaling stations past.

Correos Spain paying tribute to Spanish Stamp Designer Mariano Bertuchi, has issued as special sheet that simulates the folding of postcards, with printing on both the front and the back. One of the folds highlights the designers photograph of the painter in his Tetouan studio (© Succession Mariano Bertuchi Nieto) in which an easel appears with the reproduction of a 1928 stamp designed by himself; The following three folds correspond to the Cepti triptych "Commerce, Agriculture and Industry" (© Museo de Ceuta).
