On the occasion of 45th UAE National Day, the Etihad Museum was inaugurated on 02 December 2016 by the current rulers of UAE and a special stamp sheet of transparent stamps was issued by Emirates Post,

The museum, spread over 26,000 square metres, is located adjacent to the Union House where the declaration to establish the independent state of the United Arab Emirates and bring into effect a temporary constitution was signed in 1971.

Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT) 2016 Ice Flowers minisheet with holographic foil printing

Issue date 20 September 2016

The Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT) is the largest part of the continent of Antarctic claimed by any nation. The region was placed under the authority of the Commonwealth of Australia in 1933 and its three year-round stations, Mawson, Davis and Casey, are administered by the Hobart-based Australian Antarctic Division.

The ice flowers or ice ferns represented on these stamps are the names given to the intricate ice patterns that form on glass at AAT stations throughout the winter months.

The icy patterns seem to grow like plants and resemble ferns or flowers, hence their name. Dust and other matter present on the glass can change the way these formations occur.

This minisheet features six embellishments. From left to right, the $1 light-blue stamp is foiled with a translucent pearl foil; the $1 purple-blue with a clear holographic foil and embossed with a hand-sculptured embossing die (as is the top-left of the minisheet itself); the $2 orange stamp is foiled with a clear foil and debossed; and the $3 grey-green ice flower stamp is foiled with a metallic silver-gold foil and embossed with a hand-sculptured embossing die.
