Spain 2018 High Speed Line Mecca - Medina

The High Speed Line Mecca - Medina was built by a consortium of Spanish companies. To commemorate this, Correos Spain has issued a special premium sheet of 12 stamps. The stamp features the Train, the Kaaba, which owes its name to its shape and its corners are oriented towards the cardinal points; and finally the dome of an intense green of the Mosque of the Prophet, where the burial place of Muhammad is located. 

The special feature of this stamp is the sand particles printed on the Stamp

Spain 2019 Old Trades Miner

Correos Spain to pay tribute to the centenary profession of Mining has issued a Premium Sheet that shows an image of the miner's working. A dark and blurred image that aims to put us in the skin of the miner, of what he sees when he is performing his work under the earth. A small lamp typical of mining, accompanies these miners in their work. The sheet has 8 stamps.

The stamps is printed with charcoal reflecting the coal mine. The stamp illustrates the face of a miner with a flashlight helmet.

In Spain, the mining tradition focuses mainly on Asturias and León. But also in southern Spain, such as the Minas de Riotinto.


The cast of the Santa Bárbara well is also seen in the stamp design. The Santa Barbara Well, built for the extraction of coal ore, is located in the Turón Valley, Mieres. It was declared of cultural interest on October 29, 2009 and is one of the most representative symbols of Spanish mining

Spain 2019 Discoverers of Oceania, Francisco Antonio Mourelle Wood Stamp Sheet

Correos Spain has issued a special stamp sheet featuring Oceania Discoverers - Francisco Mourelle de la Rua with 16 stamps printed on wood paper simulating the material with which the ships were built.

He was born in 1750 in La Coruña and became a great navigator. Being assignedto the Philippines, in 1780 Governor José Basco y Vargas entrusted him with the command of the frigate Princesa to make an journey to Mexico.

While crossing the Pacific Ocean, he discovered numerous islands such as the Hermit Island, and San Francisco, San Jose and San Antonio, which today are called Simberi, Mabua, Tabar among others.

But his most important discovery was that of the Vavao group of islands, in the Tonga archipelago. He made a great friendship with the "Tubou" or king of the islands. 

After many other trips, combats, successes and failures, he died on May 24, 1820.

The stamp has in the background a detail of the map with the route that followed when he discovered the paradisaical islands.

A special issue Personal stamp created by the a Philatelic company Hermann E Sieger GmbH as part of a subscription service, and issued by Liechtenstein Post, a Silex crystal stuck to the stamp featuring a background picture of a Red Rocks like the rocks in the Las Vegas area on the stamp.

Portugal 2019 Christmas Souvenir sheet with LED attached

CTT Portugal has issued a special souvenir sheet for Christmas 2019 which has a LED light built into the miniature sheet and gets activated with the NFC (near field communication) touch of the smartphone (need to activate the NFC capability in your android smartphone. For iphone users some models have limited NFC capability e.g. iphone XS, iphone XR and iphone XS Max - the LED blinks only once when sheet is put across the iphone whereas in an NFC activated android phone the LED continuously blink)

Iceland 2012 Visit Iceland Stamps

Iceland Post as part of the Europa 2012 themed postage stamp has issued a special stamp which introduces Iceland as a tourist attraction with the combination of images and QR-codes on the postage stamps. The Icelandic Europa stamps are the first where the motifs, a geyser and the northern lights, are built into the codes.
