Ivory Coast 2013 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Ivory Coast and China Souvenir Sheet

Cote D'Ivoire Post had issued a special lenticular stamp (printed and Gifted from China for issuance by Ivory Coast Postal Authorities) to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Between Ivory Coast and China. A normal paper imperf Souvenir sheet was also printed. 

The souvenir sheet depicts the flags of Ivory coast and the flag of China. The stamps depicts the two Presidents - Ivory Coast President  Alassane Ouattara and Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The lenticular stamp is printed on non gummed plastic (with a silver backing).

Turkey 2013 Mersin XVII Mediterranean Games 3D Motion Stamp

PTT Post Turkey to commemorate the 17th Mediterranean Game (MERSIN) held in Mersin, Turkey, from June 20–30, 2013 has issued a special laser cut folder with a special 3D lenticular motion 5 Turkish Lira   stamp featuring a Chelonia Mydas Turtle (Green Sea Turtle).

Jersey 2013 Superman Multi-Sensory Stamp set

The Jersey Post has issued a set of Superman Stamps Set ahead of the release of the latest Superman film, Man of Steel, which stars Henry Cavill who comes from Jersey.

The Stamp set consists of 6 stamps featuring Superman's various super powers and a lenticular miniature sheet. The miniature sheet - 3 GBP features a lenticular stamp which when tilted shows the Man of Steel flying across the stamp.

The 45p stamp features a close up of Cavill, triggering an augmented reality app through Smartsy.(2024 update - the smartsy app not available for download as with all other Augmented Reality apps)

The 55p transparent stamp illustrates Superman’s most famous power – flying.

The 60p stamp with Simili silver foiling reflecting the Man of Steel’s strength.

The 68p stamp, a Heat Sensitive stamp is printed on monochromic ink, which when warmed reveals the earth behind Superman. (See below whole sheet has the Earth area blacked out)

The 80p stamp, a thermographic stamp uses actual crushed granite from Beauport Bay, which is Cavill’s favourite spot in Jersey.

The 88p Stamp, features a hidden message from Superman's father Jor-El which is visible only in the dark (glow in dark invisible ink used).

Hungary 2013 - Treasures of Museums Anaglyph Stamp Set

Hungary Post have issued miniature sheets featuring the Lamp Museum at Zsámbék and the Calcite Crystal Museum at Fertőrákos  as an exclusive stamp set. The set in an A5 film-wrapped pack consists of one copy of each of the two different special miniature sheets with information in Hungarian and English, and a gift pair of 3D glasses.

These unusual miniature sheets require special glasses with red and cyan filters. The anaglyph image contains information for both eyes but different colour filters on each eye block some from reaching the left eye and some from the right eye, which creates a stereoscopic or three dimensional effect.

The Lamp Museum, which houses over a thousand lighting devices, opened in Zsámbék in 1979. Its collection includes simple oil lamps, candle holders, industrial and domestic lamps, oil and paraffin lamps, lamps made from antique Chinese vases, and paraffin lamps with bases made of Zsolnay majolica and Meissen porcelain. The Museum was entered in the Guinness Book of Records in 1995, and became a member of the Rushlight Club (International Association of Collectors and Students of Historic Lighting) in 1980 and a member of the National Museum of Australia in 1983. 

The Calcite Crystal Museum is in Fertőrákos, a village located near LakeFertő, which is on the World Heritage list. The protected private collection presents the mountains of Hungary and their sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic forms of rock through two thousand calcite crystals of different colours and shapes, and four hundred fossils. This collection, the only one of its kind in the world, is part of Hungarian National Cultural Heritage

Thailand 2013 Disney Planes - The 3D Stamp collection

Thailand Post had issued a special commemorative booklet with 8 special personalised stamps with 3D Anaglyph printing featuring the characters from the Disney Animation Movie 'Planes'

The booklet came with a 3D RED/BLUE glasses to view the Anaglyph printing.

USA 2013 Reprint of Inverted Curtis Jenny Biplane Stamp by US Post

The US Post has reprinted America's most famous stamp - the 24 cent misprinted Inverted Jenny - a 1918 stamp misprinted error featuring a biplane flying upside down. The stamp has been reprinted with a $2 denomination to distinguish it from the original. One of the originals was last sold for $625,000.

The souvenir sheet contains six Inverted Jenny $2 stamps in two rows of three at the center of the sheet.

The upper left corner of the souvenir sheet shows the Smithsonian Institution’s National Postal Museum Building in Washington, DC. 

The lower left corner depicts aviation pioneer Reuben H. Fleet, based on a 1918 photograph now in the Library of Congress. Fleet was in charge of the first group of Air Mail pilots.

The right side of the souvenir sheet shows a map of the northeastern United States that focuses on the route of the first regularly scheduled Air Mail service in May 1918. 

A compass rose, a common element on maps and nautical charts, appears in the lower right corner.


A banner above the two rows of three Inverted Jenny stamps reads “STAMP COLLECTING.” Beneath it, upside down, is a similar banner reading “INVERTED JENNY.”

A twist in the tale to the issuance of this Souvenir Sheet, there have been news report that in order to draw more people to collect stamps, the US postal authorities have randomly distributed 100 sheets inserted among 2.2 million souvenir sheets featuring the plane right-side up with one last listed online for $25000.

Hong Kong 2013 Hong Kong Buses Lenticular Miniature Sheet

Hong Kong Post has issued a set of special stamps entitled "Hong Kong Buses" commemorating the different types of buses plying the different parts of Hong Kong. Also released was a HK$20 Stamp sheetlet in lithography with a lenticular effect. Three Euro V buses are set against a backdrop of the magnificent views of Victoria Harbour in the daytime, at twilight and at night to signify the round-the-clock bus services in Hong Kong.

South Africa 2013 Flight of the African Fish Eagle Motion Stamp miniature sheet

The unmistakable call of the African Fish Eagle – often referred to as the call of Africa – has the power to send shivers down one’s spine. Equally powerful is the sight of a fish eagle gracefully swooping down to catch its prey just under the water’s surface. This captivating eagle has been captured as a moving image on a stamp sheet with two different stamp designs.

The flight of the African Fish Eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer) stamp sheet issued on 14 June 2013 as part of the South African Post Office’s bird series, will for the first time in South Africa show a moving image on stamps featuring the lenticular technique.
