Republic of Guinea 2019 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations of Republic of Guinea and China Aluminum Stamp sheet

Republic of Guinea Post to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations of Republic of Guinee and China, has issued a special aluminum Stamp sheet with 4 stamps. A normal Stamp paper sheet with 4 stamps was also issued.

The stamp sheet celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Guinea and China features stamps depicting Sino Guinea cooperation

- People's Palace (Conakry Guinea) constructed in 1967 through Sino-Guinean cooperation. Houses the National Assembly.

- Sino-Guinean Friendship Hospital (Conakry Guinea) built in 2010

- Kaleta hydroelectric power plant (Konkouré River, Guinea) commissioned in September 2015. Built by the China International Water & Electric Corp. (a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corp.)

- Development of Bauxite in Guinea with the main aim of exporting the raw Aluminum ore to China for refining.

USA 2019 Spooky Silhouettes with holographic foil printing

USPS has issued 4 special Halloween stamps featuring digital illustrations with Halloween motifs rendered as black silhouettes in eerily backlit windows. 

The images include a cat with an arched back beneath a raven perched on a bare tree branch, all against a yellowish-green background; two ghosts against an orange background; a spider and a web against a red background; and three bats against a purple background.

Australia 2019 50 Years Man on the Moon

As part of the Impression Series, Australia Post has issued a special First Day cover commemorating the 50 Years Man on the Moon with a special 3D printed stamp. This is a second stamp from Australia using a 3D printed technology.

The first run of print had a series 1-150 but due to increased demand the print run was raised to 250. The number on my FDC is 228/250

San Marino 2019 50th anniversary of the Moon landing

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, San Marino Post has issued a special lenticulae mini sheet with 3 stamps showing three-dimensional effects with moving objects: in the first stamp the boot of the astronaut touches the lunar surface, in the second one two spacecraft fluctuate in the space and in the third one there is an astronaut in his spacesuit with Earth revolving in the background.

USA 2019 Tyrannosaurus Rex Forever Stamps

USPS (United States Postal Service) has issued a set of 4 special stamps with a lenticular component to depict the awe-inspiring dinosaur Tyrannosaurus Rex in different growth stages from infancy to adulthood.

This U.S. stamp issue employs lenticular printing, which conveys movement in a still picture by applying a transparent ridged plastic overlay that alters a viewer’s perception of the scene when the stamp is rotated slightly.

Hungarian-born Canadian scientist and paleoartist Julius T. Csotonyi illustrated the stamps, which were designed by USPS art director Greg Breeding.


The original artwork by scientist Julius T. Csotonyi shows a newly hatched T. rex covered with downy feathers and admiring a flying insect, a young adult T. rex approaching through a forest clearing, fossil skeletons of that same young adult T. rex and a young triceratops, and a juvenile T. rex chasing a primitive mammal.

The dinosaur’s remains are now exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex forever stamps issued Aug. 29 have a different feel to them, and two of the new stamps can show you a new look as well.

The nondenominated (55¢) stamps, issued in a pane of 16, have a very fine lenticular coating that alters your perception of the image that appears on two of the four T. Rex stamps.

Every pane of the T. Rex stamps has an edge-to-edge surface coating, but only two of the four stamps in the set (eight of the 16 stamps on the pane) take advantage of it.

These are the second and fourth stamp from the left in the top horizontal row and the third horizontal row, and the first and third stamps in the second horizontal row and the bottom horizontal row.

The two stamps showing the young T. Rex watching a flying bug and the larger T. Rex chasing a mammal through the woods display no change.

If you slowly tilt the pane from top to bottom and look at just one of the stamps with motion — the second stamp from left in the top row, for example — you should see the scene change from one illustration to a second illustration.

That second stamp in the top row shows the adult T. Rex in the forest looking to the left (his right), and then the scene changes to show the same T. Rex a little closer with his mouth wide open, as though he’s letting loose with a fearsome roar.

The larger T. Rex on the first stamp in the second row changes from a skeletal display to one looking quite alive with full skin covering.

The effect on these stamps is not seen as immediately  possibly because the artwork on the T. Rex stamps is more detailed.

USA 2019 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

USPS to commemorate the 50th Anniversary issued 2 Forever Stamps with a shiny effect. USPS technical details described the stamps as offset-printed in cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks. No silver color was listed. It was later revealed by USPS that the colors were printed onto a Shiny Chrome Paper. This was the first time Chrome Paper was used by USPS.

South Georgia 2019 3D Grytviken Anaglyph stamps

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands had a whaling station established at Grytviken. South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands came into existence as a UK overseas territory in 1985 when the Falkland Islands Dependencies ceased to exist.

The stamps featured the different sites located on the whaling Station Grytviken with Anaglyph printing to be viewed using the Red/Blue 3D glasses

70p - Grytviken Church
Built in 1913 and consecrated on Christmas day in the same year, the whaler’s church at Grytviken was a key feature of the whaling station. The church is in the neo-gothic style and has a single nave and a small library to the rear. The church fell into disrepair after the abandonment of the station but was repaired to its former glory in the 1990’s and is now an important site for visitors.

80p - Shackleton’s Grave
Possibly the most famous resident of the Grytviken cemetery, the remains of the explorer Ernest Shackleton were laid to rest on South Georgia in 1922 after he suffered a fatal heart attack. Although initially there were plans to return the body of the veteran of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition to Britain, his wife Emily requested he be buried on South Georgia.

£1.05 - The Petrel Wreck
Built in Oslo in 1928 the 35m former whale catcher is an iconic part of the Grytviken sky line. Powered by triple expansion coal fired steam engines and equipped with a bow mounted harpoon gun connected to the bridge via a cat walk, the Petrel was once cutting edge technology and allowed whalers to capture fast moving blue and fin whales.

£1.85 - Harpoon Gun
Harpoon guns were once a common site on South Georgia. Mounted on the bows of whale catchers, they made it possible to fire explosive harpoon shells deep into the flesh of the whale. Sharp spikes prevented the harpoon from sliding out and later versions of shells injected air to keep the carcass afloat and make it easier to tow the whale back to the ship.  A graphic reminder of the whaling stations past.

Andorra Spain 2019 Concession of FHASA

In the year 1929, 90 years ago, the General Council of Andorra ceded the exploitation of the hydroelectric use of the rivers and lakes of Andorra to the private company Fhasa (Fuerzas Hidroeléctricas de Andorra, SA), with the condition that the company commits itself to the improvement and construction of road infrastructures.

In total, 41 kilometers of roads, three tunnels and eleven bridges were built, in addition to all the infrastructure necessary for the operation of the hydroelectric plant. Fhasa was rescued and nationalized in 1988 by the General Council of Andorra and was reconverted into the current FEDA (Electric Forces of Andorra).

Spanish Andorra Post has issued a special lenticular miniature sheet to commemorate the company that supplies the electricity since 1929. The lenticular sheet helps to illuminate and extinguish the lights of Andorra (one page has the daylight scene of the Andorra Valley while the other shows the lit up night scene of the valley from the same spot.)

New Zealand 2019 Space Pioneers 3D Lenticular Stamp

To commemorate the 50 years of the Moon Landing and to celebrate the New Zealand Space Pioneers, New Zealand Post has issued a special 3D Lenticular mini sheet which celebrates the world’s achievements in space exploration. 

The four stamps feature spacecraft Voyager 1, which reached interstellar space; the Space Shuttle, America’s reusable spacecraft which launched many satellites including the Space Station; the first Moon walk on 20 July 1969; and the lightweight craft Apollo Lunar Module, used to transport astronauts to the Moon’s surface. The Solar System, a comet, nebula and the galaxy with exoplanets, and New Zealand's history-making Electron rocket by Rocket Lab form the background to the stamp sheet.

Vatican City 2019 - 90th Anniversary of the Lateran Pact (joint issue with Italy) and of the foundation of the Vatican City State

On the occasion of  90th Anniversary of the Lateran Pact (joint issue with Italy) and of the foundation of the Vatican City State , the Vatican City Postal Authorities had issued a special embroidered stamp. The stamp made from embroidered cloth has a value of € 8.40 and features the coat of arms of Vatican City State. The stamps were made by the embroidery firm Hämmerle & Vogel in Lustenau, Austria.
