Spain 2017 Numismatics 2017 - Aureus of Hadrian and Denarius of Traja

Coreos Spain has issued an odd shaped stamp featuring 2 coins -  the Golden Aureus of Hadrian and the Silver Denarius of Trajan to commemorate the 1900th anniversary of the death of Trajan and succession by the Emperor Hadrian.

Trajan is considered as the most important Emperor of the Roman Empire. His death occurred when returning from a campaign in Mesopotamia. He was succeeded by Adriano, also born in Hispania but educated in Rome by Trajan, whom he accompanied in numerous military campaigns. 

In the background of the stamp, the Amphitheater of the Roman city of Italica is seen.

Micronesia 1999 Faces of the Millennium - Princess Diana 

Issue date - 31 December 1999 

As part of the Millennium series of Photomosiac Stamps featuring Princess Diana issued by many countries celebrating the end of the Millennium, this sheet of stamps features the mosaic of Princess Diana. The photomosaic sheet contains small pictures of flowers which together makes the larger picture of the face of Princess Diana.

The Micronesia souvenir sheet does not feature any sentence headline but is numbered.

Each sheet utilizes the technique of  "Photomosaics", which is a method of arranging thousands of tiny photographs that when viewed from a distance, combine to form a single larger image, the picture of the face of Princess Diana.

The sheets commemorate both the Millennium and the remembrance of the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.

The nine countries which have issued the photomosiacs are: The Dominica, Gambia, Grenada, Guyana, Micronesia, Nevis, Sierra Leone, St. Vincent, and Zambia.

The sheets measures a large 6½" x 9¾" and all were issued on December 31, 1999.

They are titled

Dominica - "A World of Sharing"

Gambia - "A World of Peace & Understanding",

Grenada - "A World Where Children are Treasured",

Guyana -"A World of Tolerance & Understanding",

Micronesia - Numbered 62293

Nevis - "A World Where Children Can Learn & Grow",

Sierra Leone - "A Future of Hope",

St.Vincent -  "A World Free of Poverty, A World for Rich and Poor",

Zambia - "A Future Free of Hunger & Want"

TAAF 2018 20th Anniversary of the Madrid Protocol

The Protocol to the Antarctic Treaty for the Protection of the Antarctic Environment or Madrid Protocol, signed in Madrid on 4 October 1991, entered into force on 14 January 1998. Since 2004, there have been 32 States Parties to this protocol : Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, South Africa, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Ecuador, Spain, United States, Finland, France, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Republic of Korea, R Czech Republic, Romania, United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine and Uruguay.

On the Occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Madrid Protoco, La Poste France has issued a special miniature sheet featuring a family of Penguins with the bellies of the parent penguins on the Madrid Protocol sheet being flocked.
