France 1999 Ceres Hologram Stamp

Issue date 2 July 1999

France issued its first definitive hologram stamp on July 2, 1999. The stamp was issued for the 150-year anniversary of France's first postage stamp. The first French stamp was engraved in 1849 by Jacques-Jean Barre. The circular hologram shows The Head of Cérès, a goddess of agriculture, and the years 1849 and 1999. The small round hologram is different from the 1998 CNEP hologram. The stamp (40.5 mm x 52 mm) was issued for the PHILEXFRANCE’99 - Paris Expo, July 2 - 11, 1999.
